Clearly state the RULES to be followed and EXPECTATIONS you have of him or her: example, "you don't have to like a English assignment, but it needs to be completed."Step3
Clearly state the CONSEQUENCES of if they can't figure out a way to comply with the rules and expectations. example "While you're living here, you'll follow our rules. And, in this instance that means doing your homework and getting decent grades, or there will be consequences." The consequence should be reasonable. Poor grades might call for suspension of the privilege to drive the family car.
